Question #1:
I need help finding furniture for my room?
I have a large bay window and a smaller window both made out of a light colored pine wood. I also have wood floors that are another type of wood that have both dark and light colors. I'm looking for a dresser and night stand I can put in my room, but all of the ones I've seen are very dark. Would the contrast of my windows look bad with dark furniture?Question #2:
What colour is this wood?
I want my architraves and skirting the same colour as the wood in this picture:Click Here
I've tried a Walnut stain, but it's too light. I've tried Rosewood stain, but it's far too red. I'm lost as to what colour it is.
My architrave and skirting are softwood (pine I think) and I understand that the wood effects the colour of the stain.
I've found a dark oak stain:
It looks about right, but I can't be sure.
Any advice on what the colour actually is and how I can achieve it with soft wood, would be great.
I have some 'ethnic' furniture that's the correct colour, but I just can't find a stain that makes my skirting the same colour.
Thanks,
Gaz

Question #5:
Can someone give me some sugustions?
Alright, I am 16 and about to be a junior. I really need to start thinking about what I want to do with my life. I am very creative and I know want a job that lets me build, create, design something...in some form or fashion. I also like entertaining. I'm just having trouble getting into specifics because I want to do it all! Here, I'll give you a list of things I like to to, and you give me a list of as many specific jobs that use my talents and hobbies as possible. And anything else you want add, about things I might be good at or ideas I might want to consider.I like to draw
I write poems, and am trying to write a book
I like to build and make stuff with my hands, like jewelry, doll house furniture, purses, or pretty much anything, really. (I made brooms out of pine straw and sold them one time while camping)
I make stuff out of duct tape, like wallets, camera cases, etc...
I play the piano well and I'm just starting to get good with a guitar
I like to sing. (I'm not the best but I know I'm not BAD)
I also write my own songs
I like to act. I have had experience with plays. Movies, unfortunately not
I like photography and editing pictures on the computer
I like to design posters, pamphlets, any project like that
Some things I've thought about, but only in the most general sense are architecture, interior design, graphic design, acting/singing (though I know that can be hard to get into and do well). Also music and writing.
Any advice? Suggustions?
Also, keep in mind that I'd also like to have a husband and kids.
Question #6:
What furniture color would you suggest for this room?
I've started to remodel my room and I need help! To give you an idea.....I'm painting my walls this color: Click Here
The crown molding and trim will be white.
The floors will be this color: Click Here
It's going to be a very neutral room. I'm planning on getting colorful bedding and hanging up art to give the room some flair. The problem is...I don't know what color furniture I should purchase! I'm going to get a bedside table, a desk, and two bookcases...
I don't know whether to go with white furniture because I don't know if that will make the room too stark white...and then, I don't want to get wood furniture because I hate when different wood colors clash within one room :/ ARGH! What do you think? White or some kind of wood color?
Question #7:

Question #10:
Pine furniture turning orange - help?
I bought a computer desk and TV stand a few years ago. Its made from natural pine wood that has been lightly waxed (has not been varnished). Its beginning to turn that horrible orange colour though and I would like to bring it back to life. Can someone please provide some instructions on what I need to do. I have googled it, but instructions are not very clear. I understand I can either sand it down, or possibly use lime (what does that mean - surely it doesn't mean use lime juice on it does it)?
What is the easiest and most effective way to get my pine furniture looking more natural. Again, I'd appreciate step by step instructions.
This is the tv stand I have and the colour it was when I bought it:

Question #11:
My dog wont stop biting things!?
I have a 1 yr old lab/irish wolfhound bitch, however she will not stop biting my sons furniture, i have a two yr old boy, and she has demolished the wooden bed, a chest of drawers, a rocking chair, and a wooden rocking horse. She has not touched the table or the wardrobe that is also in his room, I have tried loads of things to get her to stop, but nothing seems to work, this may or may not be of relevance but she only seems to have chewed unpainted furniture, pine bed and beech chest of drawers. Is there anything that can be tried to stop her, i did think it was her just teething, but this has now been going on for months. Any help greatly appreciated.following on from the answers below, i thought i would add a bit more info. She never chews anything when we are not at home, only when we are all here, she goes off into another room, playing with my son, and then starts chewing the wooden furniture in his bedroom.
I take her out twice a day for walks, once in the morning, approx 20 mins, on lead, and then a good hour - 1 1/2 hours in the evening, off lead, chasing balls, and walking. She is rarely left for longer than 2-3 hours on her own, but even when left for longer she does not chew anything, she also has never chewed anything in the living room, such as wooden dining table, settee, computer table e.t.c. it only seems to be my sons stuff, i have had dogs all my life so dont think it is a lack of training, as she is otherwise very obedient.
I have never had another dog do this before, and she has got two kongs, but doesnt seem interested with them, even with treats/peanut butter inside them.
Any more ideas useful, Thanks all

Question #14:
How can i make my room a little more cheerful?
I recently painted my walls a deep forest pine color and it turned out really nice but with my dark red curtains (i hate curtains and wanted to get blinds but i can't buy them right now. college student, not enough money, you know how it goes :p) it looks rather dark in there. i'm trying to go for a modern look. not a depressing cave-like look. what other color can use to paint my closet doors/main door/window trimmings? should i keep those white like they already are? and also furniture. i originally thought of black but idk if that would just make it look even darker. i'm having a lot of trouble with this. help?! please and thank youuQuestion #15:
How to create an Italian looking bedroom?
My walls are yellow and my furniture is cream and pine (I'm not allowed to change either of these things!)Question #16:
What color should I paint my walls?
Alright, so I'm totally making over my bedroom within the next few weeks. I have two walls with a dark purple and two hot pink. Even though I think it looks great with my current theme, I don't think it'll work with my new theme. I want to go with a sleek and elegant feel. I want the room to feel rich, so to say. You know what the barcelona furniture looks like, right? Well, I'm going to have a daybed of theirs in my room. That should give you an idea of what I'm going for. I definitely DO NOT want my walls white though. So many things in my room will be white, including the daybed, bookcases, and wood flooring. You can see why I wouldn't want white walls then. It would seem way too bland in the room. I previously wanted a pine green on the walls, but would that look horrible with white everywhere? Oh, any advice on how to etch something cool on the wall? I want to put a quote up there.I'm sixteen if that matters.

Question #20:
What Color Polystain on Furniture in Room with Blue Walls?
I bought some Maple Wood Desks and Book Cases for my home office, and I'm having the furniture stripped and re-finished.The Room has Blue (Palatinate) Walls with White Trim. The Floors are Hard-wood (pine) with an "Antique Pine" Poly stain.
Given the present color scheme of the room, what color would you suggest I re-finish the furniture with? Someone suggested just painting it white, but I'm not a big fan of painted wood, plus it might be too much Blue & White going on. Any suggestions?
