Question #1:

Bedroom idea / help I'm unsure!?

Hello I'm doing my daughters bedroom up..She wants a cup cake style room and I'm teaming shabby chic with it...I cannot decide what style of bed to go for..

Should I go for a white wooden bed with a sleigh cot bed at the foot of the bed being used as a seat?

Should I have a wrought iron style bed with a wrought iron seat at the foot of the bed...

Should I have a standard single bed with a wrought iron head board (bought separately) with either the sleigh cot-bed or wrought iron seat..

Ive looked at chaise lounge and vanbonne furniture but I'm stuck what to do to look the best!

Question #2:

Do you think it would be a terrible idea....?

To have different decorating themes all throughout the house?

I like different styles for different rooms.
For instance:
A retro, 50's style kitchen
A Vanderbilt-style living room/lounge full of books and old furniture
Modern hallways and staircase with black and white photographs on the walls
Colonial farmhouse bedroom
Classic, vintage entry-way

Would this be way too much going on in one house, or would it be kind of cool?

Question #3:

I can't stop screaming out?

For the past couple of months I often get this overwhelming urge to scream or make a strange noise like high pitched noises like IIIIIK, OOOO, UHHHH, AAA, HAHAHAH etc. or I make a rattling noise then I grasp my hands either side of my head to contain the burst of energggy. And I often have to jump up and down, and run around the loungeroom so fast that I'm pretty much barely touching the floor and jumping over the furniture, and all that crap. Yesterday I was turning the corner in the litlte hallway and my toes smacked the wall, and they almost broke. I was screming and yelling and thenh I went on the couch and it hurt so much until I put my shoe on and fell asleep on the lounge.
When it happens, it gets this buzzing feeling in my stomach then I leap high into the air (A couple weeks ago I was at the top of the stairs, and I jumped so high that I could see out the little window near the ceieling.) then I start to run about the place, and sometimes my knees bend to almost 90 degrees as I run.
Why do I get these urges, I want to know whether I can fix it or get medication to make it go away. Thanks.

Question #4:

Advice on Furniture Layout?

My husband and I are in the early planning stages for building our first home. We have a house plan picked out and have contacted a builder about beginning this process. I like to plan ahead as much as possible, and, since new furniture for our living room is a consideration once we build, I have been looking over the layout of the living room to try and get an idea of furniture placement. But I'm having trouble. I've included a link to the floor plan; I have made changes to the original. The room itself is 15X19, with a fireplace located centrally on the eastern wall. The plan calls for a vaulted ceiling, which we will not be including. Currently we have a couch, two over-sized chairs, an ottoman, and a tv armoire. Once we build, we might opt for a sectional instead of the couch we have. We would like a comfortable arrangement for lounging and tv watching, and really aren't wanting to mount the tv over the fireplace.

Any advice or suggestions would be helpful in this planning process ! Thanks !

Question #5:

New Room Ideas Or Advice?

My sister is moving out and she's giving her room to me. But it's not really a room, it's a living room (lounge) a small bedroom and a bathroom. I am getting some new furniture from her old apartment, like two black leather couches, a flat screen TV thing, a desk, and a table. I wanted the living/lounge room to be dark, sunset orange, with red and sunny colors, with candles and a zen relaxed feeling. I will be doing homework there, and watching TV (keep in mind that the couch will be black).

The problem is that the room will look too small, and there is only one window, because it's kind of in the basement, and now the room is half white and then it has like green boards. So I decided a blue color and white boards, with the black couches with a silvery throw and pillows. Soft and pretty.

And then make the bedroom the orange zen feeling. That room has no windows.

My style depends on my mood. Sometimes I'm NYC girly, Blair Waldorf style; Then I become the rocker, hippy, that wears cowboy boots, leather jackets, and band t-shirts.

Any other ideas? Or advice?

Question #7:

I'm going through some tough times - how to cope with stress? Long read please answer?

I've been thinking about life a lot lately, a lot. My Mom's in hospital for having fluid in her lungs, although that's getting better, she's got CCF. Heart failure. I'm 14 and my Mom's got heart failure. Anyway - she also has HEP C,(a liver disease which will gradually kill you) from a needle-stick injury at work and Factor 5 Leiden (a blood clotting disorder passed down in your genes). She was diagnosed with Factor 5 Leiden and Hep C 7 years ago. My Mom doesn't drink any alcohol whatsoever, so she wasn't worried about the Hep C.

*Sigh* Anyway, she went to the doctors about 12-18 months ago and they said that her Hep C was 'active'. She was told to keep away from stress if possible...

Well - last year our house burned down. My Mom was absolutely distraught. We weren't insured and she turned pessimistic...We haven't gone to therapy, or seen any doctors about our depression...

We're now living in my Dad's co-workers dump. We've got garbage bags as curtains, a mattress on the floor as a lounge, and no furniture at all...Our TV is supported by a blanket box; something that's meant to be in a bedroom :/

Ehh - anyway...My Mom started to get really ill about 5-6 months ago. She must of picked up a virus and it didn't go away...Well, she started having coughing fits a lot, and got out of breath very, very easily. I kind of thought that she was going to die...Her eyes and skin were yellow, she got really sick easily, she would get up at 3am every night to have pain relief...It was terrible.

So my Father, Brother and I forced her into seeking medical help. (I thought she was going to die, but I didn't know what was wrong - she had an ulcer on her leg that was very sore, and that's why we forced her into going to the hospital).

It turns out, she was very ill. The fluid in her lungs was apparently 'very bad'. She was put on a pill that makes excess fluid in her body drain; (so she'll be on the toilet a lot). She's still waiting for an echo X-ray (Sorry - I'm not too sure what it's called..) of her heart. She's going to see a cardiac doctor *hopefully* soon.

Today while I was in the hospital with her, a doctor came in and asked about her Hep C. She said it would be highly recommended if she were to seek treatment. My Mom's going to see a liver professional soon...The doctor's are still trying to find out why she's got CCF.

I'm just really scared that, because of the Hep C, Factor 5, and CCF all gathered together, I'll loose my Mom at an early age. Since she's been in hospital, I've been bending over backwards doing laundry, the dishes, taking clothes on & off the clothesline, putting clothes away, etc etc. It's kind of hard trying to look after all of my family at once, while visiting my Mom in hospital... But it's just out of respect, you know?

Well yeah...I'm so happy if you're still reading this...I'm just extremely paranoid that my Mom will have a tumor or extensive damage to her liver, kidney's or heart. I'm scared that she'll be given a life expectancy...

My Brother's also very scared because he looked up the long-term affects of having CCF, and it said that almost 70% of people who are diagnosed with CCF (congestive cardiac failure) will only live 5-10 years after their diagnosis. I'm hella scared, man...

I've been crying all the time, I haven't eaten properly for 3 days...Even my Dad's scared about my well being...I'm just so stressed out...please give me some strategies to cope with stress and depression? Thanks in advance, woo! You read the entire question!!

Question #8:

What do you think of my first chapter so far?

Alright, so I wrote my first chapter of a book, and I want to know what you think. Do you think I over did it with the house? Please let me know. Fairfield Haven is for extremely rich people. People who have successful businesses or are stars. Let me know honestly, but don't be too harsh. Thanks :)

kaigirl15:hey… i’ve been missing u lately. where have u been?
dave05hr:hi practice is rough coach wants me 2 be perfect. not much time lately
kaigirl15:wish u’d quit. no time for me or friends.
dave05hr:talk to coach wish I could see u every day but can’t too important
kaigirl15:what about me? I’m important too rite?
dave05hr:yea but I need scholarship, it’s my life.
kaigirl15:u don’t need a scholarship ur dad can pay just as easily
dave05hr:not really. Won’t matter anyway it’s the principle of the thing. I gotta go. bye
dave05hr has signed off

“Bye.” I whispered, logging off and closing my computer screen. David was always doing this to me. Blowing me off for baseball. That’s all he cared about lately. I pushed myself away from my desk and I unlocked my door. Locking my bedroom door was a habit I had when I did something and didn’t want to be interrupted. I turned around and turned off the stereo I had blasting.
Walking out of my room was always a surprise. I still never got used to the size of our house. Well, I called it a house, my parents and people around me called it a mansion. With all the long halls, and elegant furniture and décor, I felt out of place. Growing up in a small town had always been a delight for me, but my father made it big and landed a major role on a television show. Before I knew it, I soon found my family and me moving to Fairfield Haven, a gated community for the wealthy. I hated all the mansions and mini-mansions. Fairfield Haven was filled with exclusive stores, expensive homes and most of all, snobby people.
Don’t get me wrong, I love my friends, but most of their parents could be snobby and far too social. Sadly, my parents were slowly turning into those people, as well as my older sister, Jade and her husband, Ray who live with us. We had more than enough room for 5 families in this house, although we do try to make it at homey and comfortable as we possibly can. It’s a good thing my mother never really lost her comfort and motherly touch. She still cooked dinners at which we were all required to attend at dinner. I thank God for that every day, because without a touch of comfort, I would be lost.
I slammed by door shut and made my way down the hall, or my hall. Each person had their own hall. Of course my parents shared a hall as well as Jade and Ray. These halls had our own private bathrooms and a lounge designed perfectly by whoever’s hall it is.
I made my way down the elegant staircase and into the kitchen. I reached for an apple from the fruit bowl my mom always kept on the island. My phone, which was sitting in front of me, was blinking. As I checked, I found 3 messages. All of them from my best friend, Trisha. She had texted me telling me to meet her at the fountain by in the mall by 3:30. I checked the clock on the oven. It was 2:30. With just enough time, I could make it to the mall with just enough time to pick up something small to give to Jade for her birthday this week and meet Trisha in just enough time.
I grabbed my car keys from the bowl in the front hall. “Dad? Dad?” I called out as loud as I could. My mom appeared from the basement with a basket of laundry in hands.
“What is it, Kylie?” My mom asked.
“I need money. I’m meeting Trish at the mall and I need to pick up a few things.” I told her. Hopefully Dad left her money today, or else I would have to head out to the studio, which was at least 20 minutes away without traffic. I would barely have enough time to make it back to the mall.
“Your dad decided to get you a credit card as an early Christmas gift.” My mom said as she dug into her bag to find it.
“But it’s only September.” I protested, taking the credit card from her.
“Well, he said that you ask for so much money all the time, that it would be easier for you to always have it. But,” There’s always a but. “this card is limited. When you reach a total of $4,000, you reached your limit and your dad has to put in some more money, but only a tiny bit each week. Use it wisely.” She told me. Although $4,000 dollars seems like much, it doesn’t in Fairfield Haven. It would only last me 2 weeks, but then again, nowadays, money seems be rolling in like wind.
“Thanks!” I cried out and hugged her. I grabbed my bag and hurried out to my car.
My father happens to make a lot of money. Not somethign like this, far from it, but he makes at least something like 6,000 a week, or more. You don't always need a nanny or housekeeper. They will have a cleaning lady to do most of it, but her mother prefers a cozy, homelike house. She isn't big on being filthy rich and neither is the girl. The girl hates being rich, even if it means getting whatever she wants. She wants a normal lifestyle. Maybe I will tone it down a bit, but telling me that I have the whole concept wrong is a bit annoying. I KNOW what I'm doing, I'm not an idiot. Thank you very much. :)

Question #9:

So, I'm a thirteen year old girl who's redecorating my bedroom for my 14 b-day. My room is pretty big. Ideas?!?

My furniture is going to be white. My mom and I plan to have a little sitting-room type area in one part of my room. My walls are light purple; we prefer not to paint them but might. I like whimsical bedding (go to visionbedding.com to see, but I'm not buying from there cuz it's too expensive), chaise/ lounge chairs, beanbags, and just fun chairs in general. Also, light colors like blue with brown, somewhat modern but NOT modern bedding, and shabby-chic. Sorry, I'm a little picky! ;) Websites are good, but also your own opinions, tips, ideas, or anything helps. Please help me out! Thanks so much.

Question #10:

Where to put new furniture?!?!?!?

I'm giving my room a make-over! Yay! My only problem is that I don't know where I should place the new furniture I plan on getting. I'm getting most of my stuff from pbteen. This includes a revolving book-case, a chaise lounge, a corner sofa, a corner desk, a tall vanity set, a coffee table, two chairs that hang from the ceiling, a tri-fold mirror, a vanity mirror that goes on the wall, and a ribbon display case that also goes on the wall. I know this is a lot, but I saved up a lot of money for this. Thevtotal is around $10,000. Please don't say I'm wasting my money, blah, blah, blah, my mind is made up. I do have enough space for this stuff, by the way. I'm also having a loft built in my room. I will keep my bed up there, where I'll sleep, to save space. Plus, it'll look really cool/cute. I don't think I can have the chairs hanging under the loft, because it probably needs my ceiling to support it.

Please tell me where I should put the furniture, including the loft. Thanks so much!

I just bought this comforter set for my room, and I love it!!

I am changing the sheets to all white because I didn't like the original sheets. I have shades of dark blue so far, but I was wondering what other colors will go with this? I was thinking white frames, etc. because I like the clean/ crisp look. Then I was thinking a tan color, but my furniture is light wood so... I thought about yellow, but that may be too bright. So I thought about gold. I need help to figure out what other colors will go.

Question #16:

Best kind of rug to lounge on in a small apartment?

My apartment is too small for any real furniture other than maybe a chair and a small table. If I can't have a couch (not even a love seat) fit in my apartment...

...is there a specific type of rug/garment/material that is easy to relax on and watch TV or whatnot. I know I could just use the carpet, but I want some type of decor making it appear to be seating of some sort.

:)

Question #17:

Possible discovery of asbestos?

I was with an elderly lady the other day helping her tidy up he house after a fire partially destroyed her lounge. Some furniture had to be put into her garage so the lounge could be redecorated.

Her garage roof seems to have thin slabs of concrete, but when you knock on them there is an echoing sound, which I believe concrete doesn't do. I believe her garage roof is entirely made of Asbestos and it is in poor condition, but not yet crumbling.
Should the local council be informed?

Question #18:

What color should I paint my room?

I am re-doing my bedroom and I am actually making it larger by knocking down a wall. This way I can have a lounge-type area. I have no clue what color to paint it though. I want it to be sophisticated and somewhere that it will be totally fun and cool to hang out in. My current room is bright blue and lime green which is cool but its just not chic enough for what I am going for. Also, if you have any ideas for furniture besides the basics (dresser and bed). That will totally help! Thanks!:)

Question #19:

What colours to decorate with in a red brick room?

Just about to move into a new flat which has exposed red brick walls. Wondering what colours to go with in terms of furniture. Worried that black or brown (e.g. bookcase etc) might be too dark (although my lounge is brown and won't be getting a new one), or should I just use bright accessories (cushions etc). If so, what colours would people suggest?

Question #20:

Our new cat seems to hate us and love everyone else.?

My wife and I adopted a cat from the shelter a few weeks ago. All the people at the shelter had to tell us was that he was surrendered because his owners "couldn't take care of him" so beyond that we know nothing about the cat's history, but we suspect he was abused.

When we met with him in the meeting room he was very loving. He rubbed on us, cuddled in our laps, and was very loudly purring at every little touch.

Now, almost a month later, he is very hateful and violent towards us. He gets along fine with our other cat and the two can often be found lounging in the windows together watching birds squirrels just outside their reach. When people come over he acts like he was acting towards us at the shelter but towards us... he doesn't purr, he doesn't sit with us, if we try to pet him he flips over onto his back and bites us and acts like he is going to claw us but seldom has his claws out when he does it. We are not allowed under any circumstance to pick him up however visitors to our home... he is the loving, friendly cat we met at the shelter.

The only place in the house that is off limits to the cats is the table we have our reptiles cages on and this was the first sign, to me at least, that he was abused by his past owners. I told him no and went to move him from the table when he was exploring the house... and he flattened himself and looked like someone had just reached down and smacked him or like he thought that was going to happen. Since then it seems that any time my wife or I says no to him if he's clawing furniture or trying to get in our plates or something else that is how he reacts.

My wife and I are both animal lovers. Our animals are our children and we would never dream of hurting any of them. Our other cat is very loving and cuddly and the way our new companion was acting in the shelter is why we picked him above the other hundred or so they had in the shelter and it breaks our hearts seeing him act loving towards anyone and everyone who comes in to our house that ISN'T us.

But no we are not giving up on him.
