Question #1:
The book says '...mushroom is not fatal, it just causes 24 hrs of vomiting and diarrhoea'- so, try it then?
Isn;t that a little offhand over the danger?I won't mention which wild mushroom in case nutter does try it.
Question #2:
How do I tell my wife that I want custody?
My wife had an affair. I intercepted a text message accidentally and confronted her with the evidence. She admitted it, stated that she thought she might be in love with this guy but didn't know. She had dated him almost 25 yrs ago at age 16 and he had left her, now he finds her again on Facebook. We were going through a rough stretch (think years) and things happened. For many reasons, I believe in reconciliation whenever possible, divorce as a last resort. She has agreed to that, says that having an affair was a mistake but that doesn't mean our marriage wasn't about dead. She is willing to try to work things out, slowly with no promises. Things are better between us, we're both working hard, but its tense at times and she hides her true feelings too much. She has stopped communicating with him, but admits she misses him and did slip once for a week and resume communications. She's now stopped again. When she tells me things (I'm depressed, I'm doing better, I stopped texting him, etc) I believe she tells me the truth.
I'm nearing the end of my patience with living like this. I encouraged her to get therapy, and now that she is I feel obligated to give it time to help, but she only is going once a month right now (therapist she likes was booked) until next month when it becomes every other week. Our progress is just so slow, I don't feel that we are relating any better today then we were six weeks ago. I've made a lot of changes for the better for myself and in how I relate to her, but I don't see her trying to make the changes I've told her I need for this marriage to work. I need her to make a firm commitment to our marriage. I need her to be more affectionate, but she won't even hold my hand. I need her to once and for all drop this guy off the face of the earth, and she won't do it. He's waiting in the wings for us to make it or break it. He told her he wants her to be happy, and hopes to marry her if our marriage fails. Unbelievable. She has told me she will not leave me and go straight to him, but he is still an influence on her.
I'm not saying she's done nothing, that's not true. Her attitude around the home with the kids and myself is much improved. She seems happier, not angry all the time, and it keeps getting a little better. But it doesn't translate to talking to me (admittedly, the last few times we talked, we had different opinions even some yelling, but that's to be expected, right? She had an affair!!!). It doesn't translate to showing me she's trying to love me, appreciate me, work things out with me.
At first when this drama exploded in our lives, I assumed that I would have to leave, go live with my mom at age 43. But as the shock wore off and I started reading and thinking, I realized that its not 1950 any more, there were options. Like most states, MD has a strict "best interest of the child" policy for determining custody, etc.
For several reasons, I believe that my having primary custody of the kids (3 kids ages 9 to 15) is in their best interest. I won't go into detail here, but I firmly believe that if it comes to a court decision I would be awarded custody, without even mentioning the affair. I've been a really good father and will not willingly give that up, or the house.
However, I believe my wife is under the assumption that she will get the children and the house, that I will just cede everything to her calmly. Should I tell her that's not the case while we're still trying to work things out? I don't want her to stay in the marriage for the wrong reasons, but I also don't want to spring a custody war on her unexpectedly should she decide to leave.
I agree it won't do me any good. But its too soon to say therapy isn't working. She tried to resolve it herself for a long time and only just started therapy.

Question #4:
Terry Jones, Jyllands-Posten, or Salman Rushdie?
In 1988 Salman Rushdie published "Satanic Verses" -- a novel, which caused fatwas to be issued calling on the faithful to kill the author for offending Islam. British government, of which Salman is a subject, responded with special police protection for the author and never thought of blaming him for the increased danger to himself, nor for the additional troubles with the Muslim world. Public opinion was rather supportive of Mr. Rashdie's right to Free Speech.Click Here
In 2005 Dutch and other European publications published (and then republished) cartoons depicting Mohammed -- a grave offense against Islamic teaching, which forbids ANY depictions of people, much less unflattering depictions of the holy Prophet. Although American newspapers are already cautious not to reprint the pictures, the Western public opinion remains supportive of the artist's right to express himself.

In 2010 Terry Jones plans a similar offense to Islam. American government, of which Terry is a subject, is already criticizing his plans as "endangering our troops" and, if any government actions are planned at all, it is the fire department's threat to stop the burning under some bogus reason. Public opinion is criticizing Terry for "bigotry" and "intolerance" (favorite "catch-all" accusations of the Left) as well as "unnecessary provocation" (Sarah Palin).
Granted, Rushdie's book was a work of art (I read it -- a fine novel, though hardly Earth-shattering), while Jones' act is simply a power expression of disapproval of Islam itself. But both cases are first and foremost about one's Freedom of Speech in a free society.
Anyone else is frightened by how willing we are to abandon the Freedom of (Offensive) Speech for fear of violent reprisals? And of how willing we are to blame the speaker for the violence of the expected backlash? Is it not bigoted of us to expect Muslims to react (significantly) worse, than the Christians reacted to the Crucifix in Urine, for example?
What happened to the Voltaire's principle?

Question #5:
Are those people in Gainesville burning Korans that are written in English or in their Arabic text?
Just asking in case they are burning the wrong books and can't tell...And just where did they find/purchase all those Korans? Enough for a bonfire? Is this whole thing a media stunt that the networks blindly reported on?
Question #6:
Koran Burning -- Does Obama's Helplessness Mean that Everybody is Helpless?
Could Terri Jones be Held Liable if He Causes Harm?Is the Proposed Koran Burning a Mass Tort? Could there be Liability if Harm Occurs?
This looks a lot like a slow motion disaster in the making.
Terry Jones, the pastor of the Dove World Outreach Center in Florida who is at the center of the Koran uproar, has so far resisted calls to cancel the bonfire.
President Obama and Eric Holder feel that there's absolutely nothing they can do, apart from giving speeches, of course.
They have mis-interpreted the First Amendment, contrary to 230 years of US law, which is available in all law libraries. They feel that the First Amendment gives everybody an absolute right to say anything they want any time they want anywhere they want. They have decided to utterly disregard hundreds of Supreme Court cases that say that freedom of speech is limited (like every other right in the Bill of Rights).
One man's right to free speech ends when that speech is highly likely to cause death or great bodilty harm to another person. Gen. Petraeus is on record in sworn testimony before the Congress that death or great bodily harm is the likely consequence of Terri Jones proposed speech act.
And yet the spineless, wormlike, Jellywaggle Blancmange Obamination -- who has never seen any evil anywhere that he was willing to stand up to, says that he and Eric Holder's hand are tied, there's not a thing they can do -- no injunction -- no restraining order -- not a thing -- they are helpless.
Does that mean that every tort lawyer in the world is also helpless -- and will be completely passive and inert if Terri Jones does his act and harm actually ensues.
See, then it's not a First Amendment issue. The First Amendment is about prior restraint by the Federal government, not about tort suits brought after harm has been done by private tort lawyers.
Terri Jones and his Church and possibly his congregation members who participate in his act might very well be liable in civil law for all deaths and injuries that occur as proximate results of the proposed Koran burning. If a jury is satisfied that act A caused result B, and that result B was a clearly foreseeable consequence of act A, and that harm was done, then liability can be imposed as a matter of civil law. It's called a mass tort -- where a lot of people are hurt from a single act done by a single party -- Terri Jones and his Church.
I think there's also a case for damages based on the costs of increased security precautions that had to be put in place as a proximate result of the conduct of Terri Jones. So it's like the Balloon Boy situation. One person causes a costly mass alarm that imposes otherwise unecessary costs on officials and law enforcement and security professionals.
Between these two torts Terri Jones will be out of business.
I think there's also a Federal law that prevents malfeasors from profiting from book deals they make based on their bad acts. There may be a Florida law as well.
The fact that the President is a Jellywaggle Blancmange does not mean that Terri Jones is completely beyond the reach of American and world justice.
If the bad act is done the bad Karma will come to Terri Jones. I speak as a former member of the American Trial Lawyers Association (now retired).
We are not helpless.
We are not spineless.
When we see evil, we do something about it.
To the many out there who simply have no idea what the First Amendment protects, I have this question:
If Terri Jones shouted "Fire!" in a crowded theatre, when there was no fire, would his speech be protected by the First Amendment in your opinion?
Do you feel that the Supreme Court of the United States, in 100 opinions dating back 70 years, might possibly know more about the First Amendment, and what it protects, than you do based on Civics 101 that you slept through in High School?
Doh!
To Trader G.
Your characterization of my position clearly indicates that you did not read any part of it. If you had, you would know that my concern is force protection and for other Americans worldwide. Were you more circumspect and better informed, you would know that a lot of violence happened based on the Abu Gharaib photos, and the Gitmo Koran flushing. I know you will be there at Dover when the caskets come back from the extra Americans killed directly on account of the Terri Jones free speech occurance. You will explain to the families how Petraeus' warning should properly have been ignored, and how the issuance of an injunction against Terri Jones would entail the complete and total cessation of all free speach by all Americans forever after. You will go on to explain that people always have a right to shout "Fire!" in a crowded theather when there is no fire. If somebody gets hurt -- too bad. That's the price we pay for an absolutist version of the First Amendment. Think!

Question #9:
Did You Have Dating Opportunities That You Have Mistakenly Passed Up?
I’m your typical clueless guy. Even though I can be pretty shrewd, I’m literally a dunce when it comes to women and how they communicate. And they do say that at least 75% of communication is through body language. Here are three examples I can think of:Several years ago, I was eating at Subway place and was reading a Daniel Quinn book (for those not in the know, his most commonly known book is Ishmael). A good-looking Latina stopped on her way out and commented on how she was familiar with his book, Ishmael. I was struck! I didn’t think anybody cared enough to stop to talk to me, let alone an attractive young woman who was smiling at me. Like an idiot, I just sat there and gave one word answers and she was like “…okay.” and left. To this day, I’m still kicking myself over this one!
The next one was at a retail store that I used to work at (which is another topic for another time). This time it was a cashier/student artist who was pretty, but a bit on the thin side. Still, she was pretty cool. She initiated a couple of times, at least to becoming good friends, but, again, I was clueless on how to respond.
The most recent case occurred a couple of years ago at my roommate’s brother’s birthday party. His other brother’s girlfriend’s friend was there and she was not only REALLY cute (or maybe I just have a thing for Latinas), but also had a pleasing disposition. She was definitely girlfriend material! And, as a bonus, I could tell she was interested, too! By this time, I was becoming more confident with myself (if just a little) and joked around that evening and had a good time. I STILL didn’t close the deal! This is other one that I’m just about literally kicking myself for missing!
Well, that’s it! How about you guys? Do you have any potential loves that you missed or wished you could have had a chance with?
Question #10:
BAD case of writer's block and apathy. What can I do to shake it?
Yesterday was great - I wrote loads, and I could be funny, productive and felt like my day had been spent doing something worthy.Today is a totally different story. I want to hurry up and finish what I'm writing as soon as possible, but I just don't feel like doing ANYTHING! Thought about going for a walk to get a drink and read a book, but I don't want to go out of the house. Been sat at my computer for three hours now, and can't think of anything I want to write...today is gonna be such a waste!
What can I do to get inspired again? Preferably something that I can do without going out or spending too much energy, cos I can't be bothered. Just want to stop feeling so useless and start writing the way I did yesterday again!
Thanks in advance for any useful suggestions :)
Jim KF: It's fiction, which should be the most flexible form, right? :) Wrong...sometimes it's just as hard to get going. Good suggestions, though. I do have more than one project, so I've tried switching for a bit, which has helped.
Question #11:
Physics Question - Kinematics: Freely Falling Objects?
Exact question from book:"Traumatic brain injury such as concussion results when the head undergoes a very large acceleration. Generally, an acceleration less that 800 m/s² lasting for any length of time will not cause injury, whereas an acceleration greater that 1000m/s² lasting for at least 1ms will cause injury. Suppose a small child rolls off a bed that is 0.40m above the floor. If the floor is hardwood, the child's head is brought to rest in approximately 2.0mm. If the floor is carpeted, this stopping distance is increased to about 1.0cm. Calculate the magnitude and duration of the deceleration in both cases, to determine the risk of injury. Assume the child remains horizontal during the fall to the floor. Note that a more complicated fall could result in a head velocity greater or less that the speed you calculate."
The answer in the book is: "hardwood floor: a= 2 000 m/s², delta t= 1.4ms; carpeted floor: a= 390 m/s², delta t= 7.1ms.
I do not know how to get to the answers, please help me.
Question #12:
Are the Americans scared of Muslims?

Tutoring a girl with ADHD?
I am currently tutoring an 8 year old girl who has ADHD. She is on medication (I don't know the name) but it allows her to stay calm and focus better than if she is not on it. We are up to our 3rd session today (we have 2 sessions a week for an hour at a time).I have been trying to find ways to help her concentrate and help her with her math; she is very bright and has already blown me away but is very hesitant and doesn't want to try in case she makes a mistake.
We are trying to help her confidence to and its working pretty well so far. The only thing is I want to find ways to help her better with her ADHD and learning. I have one small book about ADHD and learning in schools and so far her learning style seems to be more visual.
Are there any resources out there (internet preferably if you are outside Australia)? I am having trouble finding anything on it at all! Any tips or tricks to try or anything you think may help would be greatly appreciated!
Question #14:
I have a warrant out for domestic assault 2, which is a felony.what can I do about it?
Back in January of 2010, I got arrested for the first time for domestic assault 2, I spent 12 hours in jail which was horrible, then about 2 weeks later appeared before a judge, and got it dismissed. Apparently in march the state picked up the case, and issued a warrant while I was out of state, and so now that I am back in the state where I was arrested and tried before a judge and the original case was dismissed, I was trying to get a job at a major retailer, but when I got a copy of my background check, it has a warrant for Domestic assault 2, felony class C, I have a $6,000.00 bond, or I can pay a bail bondsman $600.00, to basically make sure I dont spend weeks in jail, and to get a court date, or I can hire an attorney.I dont want to do any of that. Honest to god, if I could go turn myself in, be booked and processed, and allowed to get out on my own recognizance and given a court date, I would, and if the judge at that time says you need to spend time in jail, or pay a fine, or be on probation, I would deal with the punishment. But I dont have $600 to pay a bail bondsman, I dont want to go turn myself in, and possibly spend up to 2 months in a county jail, waiting for my court date, and I certainly dont have enough money/ties to hire an attorney to represent myself. I have already contacted the prosecuting attorneys office, and the receptionist told me, that they could not speak with me directly since I was the litigant? but they could speak with a lawyer if I had one. I have called the local sheriffs office, and they said just come turn yourself in, and I have called local bail bondsman, and they need that $600.00, which is 10% of my bond. I need a job, to get that kind of money, and I have been turned down to a descent job that was gonna pay me $9/hour because I have this outstanding warrant. I know I want to do the right thing, I am innocent and want to be tried before a judge for what happened, but after that first 12 hours in jail, that was a real smack in the face of reality, I dont ever want to be in that position again. btw drugs, alcohol, instability had nothing to do with what got me arrested, it was a vengeful ex-girlfriend who attempted to forcefully take a cellphone from my hand, and in the process broke 2 of her fingers, somehow the cops that came to my house 3 hours after this happened, couldnt believe that a person can break their own fingers by forcefully trying to rip something out of someone elses hands. cop said "that doesnt jive", probably gonna remember that for the rest of my life, overall was a really good event in my life, I found god in that jail cell, and found a higher appreciate for my liberties that I took for granted before that time, I found what it was like to have no one in 1,000 mile radius who cared about you, and to have no money to get anywhere or call anyone, btw it was about 26 degrees outside when I released from jail in the morning with nothing but a white cotton t shirt and black pants and shoes on, was freezing, found sanctuary at a welfare office. Anyways, im a different person now, long story, but I am kinda stuck, I want to work, but cant, dont want to go back to jail, but want to be seen before a judge, want to live my life without the fear of being arrested, but dont have the money to take care of this conveniently without spending time in jail. Any suggestions that havent already been made clear by lawyers, cops, and bail bondsman?
Question #15:
What would you name this character in my book?
Alright, I've already named her Melody Harper Rose Musick (Music) Elody for short.I think the name just sounds a little overdone.. Mary sue ish maybe?
Anyways, I was wondering if you could give me some pretty names that would fit this description??
Kay, Well, She's pretty.
1.She has long wavy pale hair (Used to be auburn but then she died and it turned into that.)
2.She has deep blue eyes (kind of greenish too..) they are dark and some ppl mistake them for black.
3. She's pretty thin with virtually NO boobs (like tiny..)
4. She's around 5'6
5. She has pale skin and a bunch of freckles splattered on the apples of her cheeks and across the bridge of her nose. (she used to be tan, but dying has that effect on you..) Her skin kind of glows.
6. She has a unique personality, she looks like one of those beautiful behaved girls but thats whered youd be wrong. she'll stand up for her friends to the death. She's fiercely loyal. She's quiet until you piss her off, in which case she is explosive. Her smile is intoxicating to pretty much everyone.
She's stubborn to a fault and the word "No." Doesnt mean much to her. She'd do anything for her two best friends, and she is in love with her boyfriend (been best friends with him since thrid grade.)
She's kind of disobedient, not on purpose, its just kind of an impulse.
She's pretty deep and thoughtful, but usually she keeps her depth to herself.
Any name Ideas?? I just thought Melody harper Rose Music was a little to fru fru for her.
Maybe something more... simple? Simple yet pretty.
I dont want it to be anything common, and I'm really not fond of the name candace..
I think I might just go with Elody Rose Music and take harper out.. Because i really like that name and to me, it fits her..
Question #16:
Isn't God's voting record a little odd?
Considering that the Bible is supposedly the "inspired" Word of God, why is it that many books were included or excluded on the basis of very narrow votes - Revelation included by 1 vote, and Enoch excluded by 3 votes, for example. In fact why would books that didn't get a unanimous vote be included at all? Wouldn't God "inspire" all the voters to pick the right books in the first place? On another note, the Catholic Church formed a Birth Control Commission in 1964 that voted overwhelmingly in 1967 in favor of allowing any method of birth control that was medically safe, within marriage committed to having (some) children. The vote was 72 to 4. Yet Pope Paul VI ignored the vote and continued the Church's opposition to any form of birth control (except of course the "rhythm" method).
So how does voting in God's kingdom work...in some cases a very slim majority decides a result, but in other cases, overwhelming majorities are simply ignored?
Question #17:
How can I save a lot of web pages?
I want to save a web page (actually many web pages) that contain a book (appears to not violate copyright) just in case something happens to the site or I want to access it offline or edit it or whatever. The URL is: Click HereI know I can just copy paste, but is there an easier way, like a script I could write or something?
Question #18:
Are these book burners trying to intentionally emulate the Nazis?
As students of history can attest perhaps the most famous mass book burning was practiced by the Nazi party and lead by Joseph Goebbels. In that case their stated mission was protecting the German culture from the invading evil and terrorist Jews.Does the Dove World Outreach Center - and their pastor see Goebbels as a role model?
Every week the Quran gets exponentially worse according to YA.. Notice how this week it has gone into full on "demanding of genocide". Oh brother.
Question #19:
She Loves me and Wants a relationship but also date other people?
So back in June I broke it off with my wife and moved out. A few weeks after a stripper who I have known for about a year asked me to dinner. Well we hit it off great and it was nice to not be alone again. The First few months where filled with the Honeymoon stage, nobody could do wrong and we both wanted to be with each other. She said "I love you first" and told me she would never be good enough for me, as well as talking about long term relationships.well due to her exboyfriend going to jail for beating her and her daughter she needed a place to live. I also was looking for a place to live so we stupidly decided to move in together. Within 2 weeks of living together she started pushing me away, and ended all talk of the future relationships with my children and I.
As this happened I did what I always do with a problem and work harder at it, (big mistake). the harder I worked the more she pushed back. After I found out that her exboyfriend had been released from jail and they where contacting each other I confronted her and we got into a pretty bad fight. the next 2 days where filled with some pretty rough makeup $%#. On the third day after everything was "Settled" she went out with her friends to the beach, when I got home from work she was there and telling me she was going to go back out with her friends, now her friend was a male who is def interested in her and I told her I was uneasy with the situation. After 5 AM rolled around with no calls or txt, I made a choice to break it off. when I got out of the shower I found her knocking on the bathroom door drunk as hell and saying she was sorry but lost track of time.
I told her this is the end and I'm not putting up with that kinda crap. Well we both agreed later that day after I got home from work that it was better to be separated and keep casual visits. This was about 3 weeks ago, and the visits are awesome don't get me wrong. However I have an issue, I have feelings for her and she did for me at some point. She is pulling pure commitmentphobe in a txt book case. So I told her what your supposed to tell commitmentphobes and gave her a goal deadline. If by 2012 we are still going on like this I'm looking for a long term relationship. She agreed and I'm moving out this week.
I have a feeling that she will not be coming back to me anytime soon due to the fact she contacted her Ex again yesterday, then took it out on me when he didn't show up. (its his MO) I'm turning into her girlfriend by being around for this crap and she is going after the unavailable Ex.
I have plans with her this Friday the first week out of our house, and again for a weekend trip to see her family in another state.
Some background on this situation is strange, I'm getting mixed signals all over the place.
She wants me to move out, yet her father, sister, grandmother, and daughter all think we are together, we still have amazing "casual visits", and we get along great when she isn't trying to keep in contact with her exboyfriend. I know time will heal her issues with her Ex, and after ditching her yesterday he is in the dog house but still uneasy about this whole thing.
she hasn't cost me any money, so I'm not being used for money, but I do fell used for my emotions.
I know I have the opportunity to have casual sex with a stripper for as long as I want with no strings attached... and I'm bitching about it, but should I just bail? all signs point to yes.. but good lord this is amazing, I'm handling her finances, we workout together, we go to the bar and have fun. Her friends like me, and her best friend keeps telling me that I have nothing to worry about.
I know she is still in the grieving process with her Ex, and she misses him and his son but being beaten and isolated for 2 years can do that to a person "Stockholm syndrome" I believe its called, with a smattering of Battered wife cycle.
by me being around to pick up the pieces I'm I playing the fool, or doing what a real man should do? How do I compete with a man who has almost killed her and she still loves him?
any input would be awesome.
Question #20:
I need to know what the patient bill of Rights, and humane bill of Rights, as, well as...?
...Disabled patient Rights are codArea of law: Healthcare law
Country: United States of America
State: Colorado
I need to know what the patient bill of Rights, and humane bill of Rights,
as, well as Disabled patient Rights are codified under in united states code
book of regulations. Please be specific with Statutes #'s, as I have a
medical issue at hand that could pose a life threat without judicial
intervention before my next ER visit.
Also where can I find a Patients
right to have any medical test upon request? I tried several sub-titles in
AMJur, and CJS, but can not recall where I had previously found it. Can you
narrow my search? I can look up an example case without a problem, as long
as I have this info. Thank you so much for your help.
