Sounds like you have an eclectic retro theme going. So if you can find 50's or 60's style lamps on craigslist, that would look pretty cool. Like Danish bubble lamps, along with black lights, lava lamps and optic fiber lights would make your room look great.For more light, the multi armed lights (sometimes called medusa lamps) would work in the retro theme.
Ikea sometimes has cheap cool retro style lighting.
